Eric Twinames 2025!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to the start of the Twinames for 2025, 3 days of racing where we are able to get a measure of how effective our training has been across the winter. This is the first time we will race against most of the GBR boats and see where we are performing well and find areas where we need to work on.

Prior to this weekend we have seen a wide range of forecasts, some windy some light. Each day we need to keep an eye on the pressure. With the sun comes sun-cream but we have also had high pressure move across the UK, this is starting to move out throughout the weekend and the conditions will become more variable. Expected the unexpected this weekend and keep an eye on the forecasts!

Lets have a look at Rutland:

Lets think about these questions. We probably won't get time to go over them as a group so its up to each of you to come up to me before the weekend to chat. I want to see everyone before the event so if you haven't spoken before Saturday morning come find me!

  • Is there a current flow?

  • Where will your course be?

  • What are some of the key markers on the course that might help us as reference points on the water?

  • What wind patterns might we see?

I also want to you to think about these questions too!

  • Waves - Will there be any? What will they be like?

  • Take a photo of you with the most interesting thing/person you find on your journey to Rutland. Show me the photo before the weekend.

  • Has there been a lot of rain recently? Why might that make a difference.

  • Fevas - What mode might we want to set up our rig for the weekend?

  • Toppers - How do flights work?

This weekend will work slightly different to a normal event, I am likely to be a bit harder to find than normal particularly between races. If you see me great, come over, if you don't there will be 2 other coaches on the course. Use them too!

This is the link to the SI/NOR and the official notice board: RYA Eric Twiname Junior Championships. Read them carefully, ask if there are any questions.

The briefing this year is being run by Hammy, lets not let him off easy. Fire those questions up, if you have questions chances are others will too.

Hammy and I will be arriving Thursday at 5pm, when you arrive come and say hi!
