SLYC Weekend 5!

Looking like a consistent weekend ahead for us at Whiterock. Flat water, good breeze, the perfect time to get some starting practice. Starts are very often where races are won, a good start gives you options, clear breeze and allows you to have a degree of control over the fleet. Have a look at the diagram below:

You have been warned, the area in red is the area we will not be starting in this weekend.

You will also not be allowed to start on port! 99% of the time a Port start is not an option, we need to practice for the big events.

We might even think up some sort of punishment.....

Have a look at these questions before the weekend:

  • Checkout a video of something called crabbing (not crabs, the action of crabbing), write down notes on how it can be done

  • What does the orange flag mean?

  • If a black flag is used and a general recall flag is shown, what happens to those people that are over the line?

  • What is the most interesting thing in your room right now?

  • If you were at the Winters, write down one thing to remember about the event

Lastly on Sunday we will be joined by the SLYC training group. I have no doubt you will make them all feel very welcome. We will also be joined by Hammy as a third coach on the water on Sunday.

See you all Saturday 10am!
